Short Bio

Parichitran Ayyamperumal is a Marie Curie doctoral researcher in Boulin’s Lab, investigating how ion channel diversity shapes neuronal excitability in C. elegans as part of the NERVSPAN project. His research focuses on how genetic and cellular mechanisms establish and maintain neuronal electrical properties across development, ageing, and sex-specific contexts by integrating transcriptomic,CRISPR,proteomic, and behavioral Studies.

Previously, he worked as a bioinformatician at the University of Naples Federico II (UNINA) with Dr.Irene Cantone, studying sex-specific effects in Multiple Sclerosis patients at Single cell level. Prior at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), he worked with Dr.Srimonta Gayen on Random Monoallelic Expression in Triple Negative Breast Cancer and gene regulation in iPSCs. Before working with Dr.Gayen, he worked on COVID-19 at CIDR,IISc with Dr. Amit Singh and worked upto BSL-3 level facilities. His published work includes studies on transcriptional bursting and gene expression regulation (Ayyamperumal et al., LifeScience Alliance, 2024) and RME in TNBC (Ayyamperumal et al., bioRxiv, 202X). He has expertise in single-cell transcriptomics, epigenomics, and NGS data analysis.
